After my earlier post today, Media Relations Director, Jerry Bailey commented on this blog regarding BMI, publishing, and copy-protected CDs. I’m happy to see that even such a small blog as this is being noticed — its only a good thing for the consumer. Even if we’re not seeing positive action on the shelves, we at least know that the companies are listening! (and quite intently) Discussion on this topic continues.
That said, in search of music, I saw the “lastfm” package in Ubuntu, and decided to look at it. I was surprised to realize it wasn’t just “an internet radio” but a social music site. (where have I been!?) I’ve since been listening all day to various recommendations based on my selections. Already, I’ve learned of many excellent (obscure) bands, as well as some songs from my favorite artists that I’ve never heard before. I’ve reconfigured my music player, RhythmBox, to push all played songs to Last.fm.
I’ve added a Last.fm bar to the website showing my most recently listened songs. I’m also going to look into some of the wordpress plugins, as I’d rather have a nice non-blocking (fast) AJAX list, rather than the blocking (slow) image I have now.
Finally, today wouldn’t be complete without mentioning donuts! Today was Fat Thursday, the day where Polish people buy donuts and grow an inch around their waist before Lent! I ate my four donuts, did you?
(Edit: fixed Fat Thursday link)
